Tanglewood lies in a wooded valley, but is less than a mile from the friendly Exmoor National Park village of Porlock, with its excellent range of shops, pubs and restaurants, twenty minutes from the seaside town of Minehead.
Porlock is the perfect base for exploring all that West Somerset and Exmoor has to offer. There are a good range of pubs, restaurants and tearooms to enjoy. Within easy reach there are beautiful villages, long stretches of coast path with breathtaking views and peaceful moorland and riverside walks. Other Exmoor activities include fishing, cycling and horse riding.
Close by are the pretty National Trust villages of Selworthy and Bossington with their lime washed thatched cottages, and a picturesque church and village green at Selworthy. A short drive to the east brings you to the village of Dunster with its medieval castle, yarn market and working water mill; while to the west lies the Victorian seaside towns of Lynton and Lynmouth, linked by a historic cliff railway.
There is fantastic walking straight from the cottage ... up Hawkcombe to the heart of Exmoor, over Ley Hill to the high point of the moor, Dunkery Beacon or up to the top of Porlock Hill for views of the Bristol Channel and Wales. Then within a short drive the rest of Exmoor is at your feet.
